Six months ago, MOSVIC Movement was just a dream, a concept, a belief that brokenness could help people connect to others in beautiful ways. Six months ago, there was just a story.

At the beginning of the Fall semester, MOSVIC Movement was just a dream, a concept, a belief that brokenness could help people connect to others in beautiful ways. At the beginning of the Fall semester, there was just a story.

On November 1, 2015, MOSVIC Movement had its first event called “MVSQUERVDE”. It consisted of acoustic music by MANNRS, pizza provided by Palace Pizza, feathered masks, spoken word, and completely beautiful and vulnerable storytelling by three world-changers. Though completely unknowing of what the night would hold, MVSQUERVDE brought over 300 people together in Portico Coffeehouse for a night that would bring healing and connectedness both for those who shared their shards and those who were listening from the balcony and ground floor.

MVSQUERVDE was meant to begin at seven o’clock in the evening, but Portico’s doors had to open twenty minutes early due to the line that was already forming thirty minutes ahead of time. MANNRS had just finished their sound check when the doors opened and Portico was filled with college students who had been curious about MOSVIC and the MVSQUERVDE event for the entire month of October. Throughout the night, MANNRS played an acoustic set and when the lights would dim, the audience knew that a story was going to be told. These stories were vulnerable and real. They stories that people weren’t accustomed to hearing in such a public and honest way. Stories of sexual molestation, porn addiction, absent fathers, and the difficulties surrounding sexual orientation filled the fully attentive room.

The crowd didn’t know where the stories were coming from or who’s story it was because the story-tellers were standing behind a curtain, but when the speakers had finished they would walk out from behind the curtain, remove the white masks they were wearing, and introduce themselves. Those in the audience had a face to a story that connected with their own. They knew they weren’t alone and many then felt empowered to tell their own story.

The first day of the Fall 2015 academic semester at Southeastern University, MOSVIC Movement was just a dream, a concept, a belief that brokenness could help people connect to others in beautiful ways. At the beginning of the Fall semester, there was just a story. A story that was briefly mentioned in a speech class. A story that sparked passion in a graphic design student named Tyler Coker.

Three days after the start of the Fall 2015 semester, MOSVIC Movement had a graphic, a design, an image that others could remember. It was of a mosaic lion that Tyler had spent seven hours creating.
In that same week, the story sparked passion in an organizational leadership student named Tiffany Hawthorne. She jumped right into spreading the word and encouraging the story to grow and connect.

On October 6, 2015 MOSVIC had its first interest meeting where the story could be told to a group of students who eventually became invested in the movement as volunteers. In the meeting, the idea behind MVSQUERVDE was mentioned. Those who attended the meeting became passionate about MOSVIC and they began to plan for MVSQUERVDE.

Within one month, MOSVIC had raised enough funds to pay for the MVSQUERVDE. The amazing part of this was that nearly 85% of it was donated by college students who also believe in MOSVIC.

Though MOSVIC Movement was just a dream, a concept, a belief that brokenness could help people connect to others in beautiful ways that began two years ago, it is now a living-breathing dream that is helping people connect and empowering story-telling.

For the past month, the MOSVIC team has been laying low, trying to be sure that MOSVIC stays true to itself,  brainstorming new ideas, and allowing dreams to take shape (also studying for finals), but know that the team is working to determine ways that we can continue to help one another connect through our stories and broken pieces. We believe there is a reason MOSVIC grew up so quickly, but we want to be sure it doesn’t mature so rapidly that it misses the beauty from growing steadily.

Just because we’ve been laying low, that doesn’t mean that we haven’t been doing awesome things. Within the month since MVSQUERVDE, we have been given opportunities to rep at different music venues, met a CEO of a company called Complete Impact who would like to help get the word out about us, ordered 1,000 stickers (which have been sent to five different states so far), met a man who would like to have a MVSQUERVDE at his ranch, added Traci Hicks to our TEVM as our financial manager, and spread the word with almost every conversation we’ve had. We’re so excited to continue to chase this dream.

We are currently hoping to raise enough funds to bring more merchandise to you so that we can travel and tell our stories at different venues and events. If you would be willing to help us spread this movement, please email us at mosvicmove@gmail.com or you can find our PayPal account information at our website, http://www.mosvicmovement.com. If you are interested in purchasing stickers on donation basis, you can also email us with an address and the quantity you would like!

Thank you for your patience and for being willing to share your shards in order to connect the pieces into a beautiful mosaic.

Wreck the world with love today and every day.
